Aikido created by Morihei UESHIBA is Budo (Aikido is not a martial art. It is incorrect to refere to Aikido as a martial art, it comes from martial arts. Aikido should not be boxed into this category, Aikido is beyound martial arts.) After the Founder's passing in 1969, his son Kisshomaru Ueshiba was inaugurated as Aikido Doshu. At present, Moriteru Ueshiba, grandson of the Founder, has succeeded his father as Aikido Doshu. The Aikikai Foundation, officially recognized by the Japanese government in 1940, was founded in order to preserve and promote the ideals of the true Aikido created by the Founder. As the Aikido World Headquarters, it is the parent organization for the development and expansion of Aikido throughout the world.

Our Aim is to instill Quality with Integrity into the charecter of all students

Freedom to express your own true Heart.
To honestly express and open yourself through aiki practise.

'AI' - Affection, Love

Aiki
is set firmly in the Infinite

The Charecter DO in the phrase Ai-Ki-Do is purposly ommitted. Implying The Way to realization of the infinite is on your  own path.

'KI' - Universal Essence

The training approach and method to practice is not easy nor is it shallow.
Only the Philosophy is simple "Not to interfear along The Way" and to cause no harm along The Way.
It is not enough to merely accept this philosophy principal with our intillect. One must train the Body with a determined Spirit in the Techniques of Aiki so to teach the Mind to simply view the hidden truths.

Although our approach to Aikido training holds great value in the technical treasures within the form that make up the techniques of Aikido, it is through the study of how we as recepticles may absorbe the meaning are we then able to interprate the profound and then follow in the direction. "To make the Techniques of Aikido your own and then clothe them with new garments". Words of this effect were implied by O'Sensei and if O'Sensei was anyone, He was definatly a great explorer along The Way.

Techniques in Aikido are in the Mind Body center. One is mistaken to think techniques are executed only on the extrematies of the body, hands, limbs joints etc.. True technique acts on that which motivates and initiates movement. Techniques of Aikido form shapes in the physical and metaphysical. The truely effective technique acts on and formes impressions on the Mind Body Center. Locking and releasing this Center without pain in the body and joints should be your guide for technique advancement. If you require to cause pain, then your mind is out of alignment with the greater movement. High level Aikido begins with high level Ukemi.

Furthermore evolved ukemi becomes progressivly internal as one matures and is not necessarely expressed as dynamic movement any longer, nor is it tangable to the less mature. Some mistake Gymnastic ability for Ukemi.
